Synopsis of Action of the Dexter Township Board of Trustees
Regular Board Meeting April 21, 2020
In accordance with the provisions and directives of Governor Whitmer’s Executive Orders, the meeting was a “virtual” meeting held over Zoom videoconferencing, was properly noticed and was open to public participation.
Called to order at 7:00 PM
Members Present: Supervisor Rider, Clerk Ceo,Treasurer Brushaber, Trustees Compton,Drolett,Gajewskiand Mesko.
Also, present: David Rohr, Director of Zoning and Planning.
Supervisor’s Remarks:None
Call to the Public:Robert Bixler, Dexter Township Resident, discussed the lack to broadband services in his area of the township. Mr. Bixler is working with Charter and would like to meet with members of the Township Board to work towards a solution to this issue.
Oral Reports:Trustee Compton, Chair of Dexter Township Broadband Committee, advised Comcast is looking at a grant for 2021 to provide service to the Dexter Township. Also, the Dexter Township Broadband Committee March meeting was cancelled along with the April meeting; Trustee Compton, Chair of Western Washtenaw Recycle Authority (WWRA), advised the WWRA cancelled the March 25, 2020 Board Meeting. WWRA is also cancelling the April Board Meeting and Clean Up Day scheduled for Saturday April 25, 2020 at Chelsea High School.
The Board took the following action:Approved the Agenda for the April 21, 2020 Regular Board Meeting; Approved the minutes from the March 17, 2020Public Budget Hearing and the March 17, 2020 Regular Board Meeting; Approved road projects to include theTownship’s share of replacing the Waterloo Culvert and repair to Orchard Road off of McGregor Road. Approved a letter to Governor Whitmer expressing the Township Boards’ concern that lawn and brush cutting services and the control of harmful insects and vermin to be services that are essential for the health, safety and welfare of the residents of Dexter Township.
Board also authorized payment of:General Fund bills totaling $84,246.96, Fire Fund bills totaling $68,523.81,Police Fund bills totaling $41,458.50,General Agency Fund bills totaling $4,737.50, MLWSA Debt Service Fund bills totaling $125.00 and gross monthly payroll of $27,746.16.
Second Call to the Public:Michelle Stamboulellis, Dexter Township Resident, discussed should landscaping be considered an essential service.
